Thomas K. McGarithy, "Tom", 78, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023, at home in Latham, New York.
Thomas was born on February 9, 1945 in Albany, New York, the son of the Late Thomas J. and Margaret
E. (Nagengast) McGarithy. He attended Cardinal McClusky High School and then served in the
United States Navy Submarines.
In Tom's spare time he loved to vacation in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with his family. Tom enjoyed
listening to music and playing the organ. He was an active volunteer at Sunnyview Rehabilitation in Schenectady,
New York. While at Sunnyview he took art classes for over 10 years using different media of paints, etc.
Tom is survived by his wife, Janet M. of 55 years. He was a dear father of daughter, Lisa Jackson of Schenectady;
son Kevin (Tammy) McGarithy of Latham; grandfather of Amanda and Alyssa Jackson; brother of Mary E.(Alfred) Casella
in addition, he is survived by his niece Valerie (Josh) Wilson; his nephews Keith (Samantha) Merrifield, Scott (Joy) Merrifield and Daniel Casella.
Tom is predeceased by his sister Eileen (Larry) Merrifield
As per Thomas' wishes services were private.
