Delmar - Thomas John Mittler was reunited with the love of his life, Rosie, on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the age of 78 with his loving family by his side.
Tom lived his life to the fullest, doing all he could to bring joy to family, friends, and the local community. A spirited leader, Tom served as a parish trustee, a member of the Usher Society, and President of the Parish Council at Our Lady of Angels Church. He also served on the Board of Directors at the Poverello House and the Center City Outreach in Albany. He was one of the founding fathers of Samaritan Shelters in Glenmont, NY and he volunteered for the Town of Bethlehem Senior Services.
He worked for Health Research Incorporated for more than 20 years, where he served as Director of Business Operations
Tom was an original New York Mets fan from when they came into existence in 1962, and a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was also an avid history buff and paid close attention to politics.
He is survived by his daughters, Theresa Smith, Karen (Joe) Rossi, and Michelle (Brian) Moss; his grandchildren, Heather (Ryan) Flansburg, Joshua (Evita) Ciccone, Adam Rossi, Becky (Ryan) Babin, Caitlyn Moss, Dylan Moss, Alyssa (Ayaz) Kiani and Jesse Smith; his great-grandchildren, Bria, Anthony and Kellice; his brothers, Robert (Janice) Mittler and William (Gayle) Mittler.
Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rose in 2006 after 49 years of marriage.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Thomas on Wednesday, February 4th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 3rd from 4-7 p.m. at New Comer Funeral Home. Interment will be at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
