Thomas (Joe) S. O'Neil, 78, of Albany, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2022 at home surrounded by family after an aggressive battle with Multiple Myeloma.
He was born in North Adams, MA on October 22, 1944 to the late Thomas and Patricia (Farrell) O'Neil.
After attending St Joseph's High School in North Adams, MA he enlisted in the US Army June 1962 and was stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany with the 94th Artillery Group until June 1965. When he was on leave he traveled around Europe.
Thomas was a proud member of the UAW for 23 years working at Johnson Controls Car battery division in Bennington, VT. Before his retirement he did security for the Clark Art Institute where he found a passion for art history. Through the years he enjoyed going dancing with his wife, family vacations and spending time with the family dog. He had a love of westerns, army and John Wayne movies. He had a love of drawing, painting and reading books. He was a member of the American Legion, in Williamstown, MA for 21 years.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara (Logan), Daughter Candra and husband Sangeet Tuladhar, Sister Kathleen Gregory and her Husband Tom of Dalton, MA, Brother Gary and wife Nancy O'Neil of Bennington VT, a Brother in law Harry M.Logan Jr. and family of Tacoma, WA, along with many adored nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three sisters Denise O'Neil, Eileen Tisdale, and Barbara Alarie.
Visitation will be held on December 3rd from 12-2pm with service to follow at 2pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie New York.
