Wynantskill - Mr. Thomas Oyarijivbie, 74, a longtime resident of the Capital District died June 6 at home with family by his side. Thomas was born in Delta State Nigeria to the late Oyarijivbie and Cecelia Jome Oyarijivbie.
Before coming to the United States, he received a technical degree in Germany and worked as a merchant marine.
Thomas was employed with New York State, Office of General Services and as an independent delivery driver prior to his retirement. He was a talented and kind man with a strong work ethic who also enjoyed pool, music and photography.
He is survived by his children Esha T. Oyarijivbie, Stephen-George Oyarijivbie, Eyitemi Oyarijivbie, Etakibuebu Oyarijivbie and Folashade Oyarijivbie; his sister Alice Oyarijivbie, brother Johnbull Takibiebu Towor, and cousins Morris Egon and Rachel Mofoye. Thomas will be remembered fondly by his friends: Clearice Harris, Myles Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bennett.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Saturday June 18, 2022 from 10:30am to 12:00 pm. Burial will be held privately.
