ALBANY_Thomas P. Drugda, 74, passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2016 at St. Peter's Hospital.
He was born on April 21, 1942 to Paul and Helen (Mullen) Drugda in Albany.
Tom was a graduate of Cardinal McCloskey High School class of 1960. Tom is a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. On November 17, 1978 he married Maureen (Liuzzi) Drugda. Tom worked for Niagra Mohawk on Broadway in North Albany as a supervisor in the gas department until his retirement. After he retired Tom worked part-time at Park and Fly. He was a member of the Colonie Elks Club No. 2192. He participated in a bowling league for many years. Tom was very particular about his yard work and took great pride in the upkeep of his home.
Tom was a fun loving man and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to know and love him.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Maureen; mother, Helen Drugda; children, Kimberly Drugda (Scott) Strickland, Kimberly Categna (Brian) Peek, Tara Categna Riley; son-in-law, James Riley; grandchildren, Brandon VanGuilder, Jessica Aaron, Caine Riley, Madison Peek; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Louis (Joan) Liuzzi, Ronald Liuzzi, Kevin (Deloris) Liuzzi, Barbara Mesick and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Drugda; his granddaughter, Brittany Aaron; sister-in-law, Loretta Liuzzi and brother-in-law, Robert Mesick.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 4-8 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 23 Crumitie Rd, Loudonville, NY 12211. Graveside services will be held following Mass on Friday at St. Agnes Cemetery.
