Timothy A. Walsh, 55, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 peacefully in his sleep. Tim was born in Syracuse, NY and moved with his family to Colonie in 1961.
He was a graduate of Colonie Central High School, class of 1978.
Tim was the son of Ann Murray Walsh and the late John F. Walsh, Jr. He was the brother of Ann (Marty) Loftus, Barbara (Joe) Eron, Stephen, Cynthia Swint, Sheila Walsh Vadney, Barry, and Daniel (Linda) Walsh. He was predeceased in 1976 by his brother John (Jay) F. Walsh III.
Throughout his school years, Tim played the tuba with the school bands and the Colonie Village Fire House band. He was a former member of the Boy Scouts of America, the Colonie Village Fire Department and the Colonie Lodge of Elks #2192.
He was a communicant of St. Clare's Church and was an altar server for many years. Tim was also a cancer survivor for the last seven years.
Tim had a heart of gold; he was always ready and willing to help everyone, right up until the day of his death. He never met a stranger.
While at SUNY Albany, he was employed as a house cleaner and a cook to finance his tuition. He was employed in the Insurance field for many years and, after owning his own Home Improvement business, he was a cook, bartender and waiter for various restaurants throughout the Capital District.
Tim was the father of Timothy Lanahan (Michelle Pilato) and the grandfather of Emily and Caitlynn. For many years, he was Uncle Jelly Bean to his many nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother and siblings, he is survived by 12 nieces, seven nephews, four great nieces and seven great nephews plus a large extended family.
Calling hours will be held at St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12205 on Friday, June 10 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clare's Church on Saturday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
