Timothy J. Garufi

Timothy J. Garufi, 66, of Colonie, passed away on July 29, 2021 at St. Peter's Hospital.

Born in Albany on July 14, 1955 he is the son of the late Salvatore J. and Shirley E. Garufi.

Tim was a graduate of CBA, where he excelled on the football field and track. He initially attended Boston College and was named All New England in Track. He transferred to Siena where he was a 2 year starter for the football team. Upon graduation he became the business manager at CBA. During that time he coached several undefeated JV football teams. Tim spent 20 years working for Albany County, starting in the Dept. of Aging moving up to Assistant Director. He also worked as the administrative manager at Boston College's Center for Retirement Research. Most recently Tim retired from serving as an Auditor with the Albany County Comptrollers Office and as a member of the Albany County Planning Board.

His passions included music, sports, especially coaching, and volunteering with various organizations that were tied to active duty Military and Veterans.
Above all his ultimate joy was to be with his family and friends.

Tim is survived by his son Andrew, brother Anthony, cousins Rosemarie Luciano, Lew Luciano, Joseph Garufi, Kathy Garufi Smith and Lisa Garufi Boss.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 3rd from 4pm-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, Colonie, New York.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 4th at 11:30am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie
