"Timothy R. McCoy, 59, of West Milton, NY, passed away suddenly on the morning of Sunday, August 27th, 2023. He was surrounded by family during his final moments.
Tim was born on June 10th, 1964 to Thomas McCoy and Gertrude McCoy in Albany, NY. He graduated from Albany High School in 1982. After school, he served in the U.S. Navy as an Anti-Submarine Warfare Technician on the USS Ranger, where he achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class.
He had many different occupations over the years, but he was most known for his work in transportation. Most recently, he joined CDTA in 2006 where he worked tirelessly to become a Supervisor in the Albany and then Troy divisions. He was with the company for 17 years, where he made many lifelong friends.
He had three children he loved dearly; Adam (28), Daniel (26) and Faith (19). He also had a step-daughter, Katrina (23) whom he was very close with and loved. He was accompanied by his partner of 15 years, and fiancée Laurie, whom he spent many happy years together with.
Tim was a loving and devoted father, fiancé, companion, mentor, friend, and role model. He enjoyed riding his Harley and was a devoted member of the Risers Motorcycle Club. He loved to do work in his garage, build model ships, and enjoy relaxing and reflecting at home with his family.
He was known for his kindness, humor, intelligence, and dedication. Tim was a volunteer firefighter at Selkirk Fire Department for many years, where he took honor and pride saving the lives of others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his fiancée, Laurie Thorpe; his children, Adam M. McCoy, Daniel J. McCoy, the mother of his sons Marcia McCoy , and Faith McCoy;his step-daughter, Katrina Brienza; his sibling, Tommy McCoy (Jamie McCoy); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas McCoy and Gertrude McCoy; and his sister Edith McCoy.
A celebration of life will be held on September 11th, 2023 at New Comer Funeral Home, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd
Watervliet, NY 12189. Calling hours will take place between 10am and 12pm. A service will take place at 12pm.
A memorial ceremony will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery,
200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association."
