Colonie - Timothy J. Morrison, age 32, the beloved son of Thomas Sr. and Sheryl Morrison passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 5, 2021, after losing an ongoing battle with the disease of addiction.
Timmy was a kind-hearted, fun loving guy, who loved to joke around, always had a smile on his face and cared for his family deeply. During his youth, he was an active athlete in both basketball and baseball. While in baseball, he played for Colonie Little League, Babe Ruth, and various other travel teams. He was a 2007 graduate of Colonie Central High School. During his junior year, he played for the Varsity baseball team where they finished as runner up for the State Championship. One of his proudest accomplishments was when his Adirondack Region baseball team won the Bronze medal in the Empire State games. He continued his love for the game by playing for various local softball teams.
Timmy enjoyed watching horse racing, particularly going to Belmont to watch the Belmont Stakes with his friends. He liked it so much, that he even invested in a racehorse who previously won the Kentucky Derby. Some of his other interests included going to his family's camp on Sacandaga Lake during the summer, taking boat rides, sitting around campfires, spending time with friends, and attending family gatherings, especially our traditional Christmas Eve party! He will be greatly missed by countless friends and family.
Timmy is survived by his parents Tom and Sheryl, his siblings Michelle (Dan) Sweeney, Kim (Rob) Hacker, Tina (Mark) Brownell, and Tom Morrison Jr, as well as his nephew DJ (Marissa Gregory) Sweeney, nieces Samantha Sweeney, Abigail Hacker, Ashley Hacker, Briella Brownell and great niece Annamae Sweeney. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, long-time friends, and the family dog Yogi.
Timmy is predeceased by his paternal grandparents James and Mary Morrison, maternal grandparents Albert and Norma Green, and (infant) sister Jenna Morrison.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 9:30 am. Interment will follow the service at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
We would like to give a special thank you to all of the people in the Colonie Never Alone NAR-ANON support group. Having these weekly meetings in our lives has helped us to understand more about the disease of addiction, and has aided us in coping with our own struggles during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Peter's Addiction Rehabilitation Center (SPARC) by visiting www.givetostpeters.org/donate/ or to the Capital City Mission by visiting give.capitalcityrescuemission.org/give.
