COLONIE - Timothy B. "Tim" Sherry, 44, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2021, after a brief illness. Tim was born in Niskayuna, NY, on October 16, 1976, son of Gerald Sherry and Sondra (Raimondi) Sherry. He was a 1994 graduate of Colonie Central High School and received his Associate's degree in accounting from Hudson Valley Community College. Prior to his early retirement, Tim worked as a calculations clerk for the New York State Department of Labor.
Tim had an incredibly smart and great sense of humor, using sarcasm to egg his family and friends into heated debates to his delight. He loved listening to music, particularly hard rock and metal, had a penchant for the stock market and investing, and enjoyed playing golf and bowling. Tim had a lifelong passion for the Boston Red Sox and the Washington Redskins, and used his sports knowledge to successfully build competitive fantasy teams. As a proud uncle, Tim spent countless hours researching to find unique and thoughtful gifts for his nieces and nephews.
In his youth, Tim courageously fought through brain surgery and radiation therapy to successfully treat a medulloblastoma. He persisted with dignity and optimism in spite of the initial resulting balance, hearing and eyesight issues and, later in life, the daily obstacles caused by strokes and ataxia.
Tim is survived and will be truly missed by his parents; brother Phillip (Cookie) Sherry of Mamaroneck; sisters Colleen (Kevin) Winchell and Kathy (Shawn) Hughes of Glenville; nieces and nephews Owen, Jun, Annika, Brian, Ken and Keira; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Tim was predeceased by his grandparents; his uncles, Donald and Richard Sherry; and his cousin and friend, Sgt. Dominic Sacco. Tim will also be missed by Tinkerbell, the cat that annoyed him with her love.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the MICU at Albany Medical Center for their compassionate care of Tim during his illness. Donations in Tim's memory may be made to the Bernard & Millie Duker Children's Hospital at Albany Med at https://community.amc.edu/childrens-hospital or through the Albany Medical Foundation, 43 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, NY 12208.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205 on Monday, August 30, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m. A prayer service will follow at 7 p.m.
