WESTERLO – Tommy E. Winchip, 63, passed away at his home on October 10, 2023.
He was born in Kinston, NC a son of the late Gerald E. Winchip and Alice Faye (Dawson). He graduated from Albany High School.
Tommy served proudly in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged from the US Army at rank of PFC. Following the military, he attended Hudson Valley Community College and graduated with an Associates' Degree.
He was employed as a - Utilities Engineer for NYSOGS.
Tommy enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Tommy is survived by his son, Augustus (Nikita) Winchip; his 2 grandsons, Weston and Sawyer; his brother, Tony (Jennifer) Winchip; his nephews, Anthony and Joseph Winchip, Howard Bink and Jimmy (Dee) Maddex; his three great nephews Logan, Brennon and Dorian and great niece, Tristen. He is also survived by his close friends, Ed Brown, Steve Hausler, Bill Williams, Damein Carangelo, Dave Burkhart, William Bink and many other dear friends.
Visiting hours will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 25 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 125 Eagle Street, Albany, NY.
Interment will follow at 1:00pm at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville
