COLONIE - Townsend Ammell Plant, 81 of Colonie, entered the kingdom of heaven into the waiting arms of his mother, grandmother, and grandfather on Monday June 17, 2013.
He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Ruth Townsend Plant. Townsend served in the US Navy and worked in the steel industry throughout his career, where he was well respected for his expertise in steel fabrication, and was instrumental in several projects such as SPAC, SUNY Albany, Colonie Center, and the USTA Tennis Center, just to name a few. Townsend is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Virginia Ewing Plant. Townsend was a gentleman, kind and considerate, and his silent example and love was his children's guidance. Their accomplishments and God-given talents were his pride.
He was the devoted father of Patricia Morrissette (Mark), Susan Febbie (Mark), Timothy Plant (Carole), and Townsend Plant II (Kimberly), and he was the proud grandfather of Amanda, Erika and Robert Morrissette, Justin, Andrew and Joshua Febbie, and Townsend III and Nathaniel Plant. He is survived by his brother, Jack Plant (Sylvia), and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Daughters of Sarah for their care and compassion towards Townsend and his family during his short stay.

Townsend's adoring wife would like to pay special tribute to Her Townsend with words from a song by Andy Williams "Dear heart wish you were here to warm this night. My dear heart, seems like a year since you've been out of my sight. A single room, a table for one. It's a lonesome town all right. But soon I'll kiss you hello at our front door. And dear heart I want you to know, I'll leave your arms never more . . ." Your Jinny
