ALBANY, NY – Tyler J. Rhodes, 17, died tragically on Saturday, April 30, 2011. He previously attended school in South Colonie and was currently a Jr. at Albany High School where he was on the track team. Tyler worked for three years with the City of Albany Summer Youth Program. He enjoyed music, playing video games and hanging out with his friends. Tyler loved children and making people laugh. He is the beloved son of Stacey L. (Michael Sofer) Rhodes. Tyler is the devoted brother and best friend of Denise Rhodes. He is the cherished grandson of James "Red" Rhodes and Barbara and Dusty Goad. He is the loving great-grandson of Frank and Marjorie Becker and Elizabeth (the late Kenneth M.) Goad, and the adored nephew of Jimmy Rhodes. Also surviving is his father, Csiko Sawyer and Tyler's two half brothers and five half sisters, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends. Tyler was predeceased by his grandmother, Sharon Edwards.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Funeral services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family. At the family's request, memorial contributions would be appreciated to any YMCA or Boys or Girls Club in memory of Tyler J. Rhodes.
