SCOTIA – Velma J. Conover, 87, of Scotia, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2005 at Glendale Nursing Home. She was born in Schenectady and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Florence Tucker. Velma worked as a bookkeeper for the former Daley's Restaurant in Schenectady. She also worked for the former Barney's Dept. Store where she was a custom sewer and demonstrated sewing machines. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and especially loved baking for her family. Velma is the beloved mother of Christian Conover and his wife, Rita, Gene Conover and his partner, David Spetla, Katherine Conover, Charles Conover and his wife, Cheryl, Howard "Robbie" Conover and his wife, Sandy, Corinne Remedes and her partner, Gerald Moskal and Francine Conover, all of Scotia. She is the sister of Florence Andreasen and her husband, Lawrence of Freeport, ME and the late George Tucker. She is the sister-in-law of Gladys Tucker of New Hampshire. Velma is the cherished grandmother of Aaron and Jacqueline, Steven and Nicole, Ryan and Courtney and Nathan. She is the devoted great-grandmother of Benjamin and Annabelle, Zoe Marguerite and Stephanie and Kayla. She is the aunt of Cynthia, Lesa, Anitra, Matthew, Benjamin and Diane.
Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 11:00 to 12:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross of Northeastern N.Y., 33 Everett Rd., Albany, NY 12205 or to the charity of one's choice in memory of Velma J. Conover.
