COLONIE- Vera M. Bunkoff, 81, entered into eternal rest at her home on Tuesday December 25, 2007. Born in Albany on April 27, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Zaida Reynolds.
Vera is survived by her husband, Christopher O. Bunkoff. They were married on October 11, 1943 in Norfolk, VA. She is the beloved mother of Richard (Dee) Bunkoff, James (Diane) Bunkoff and Rev. Steven (Michelle) Bunkoff. Vera is the sister of Ralph (Barbara) Reynolds. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Vera had a deep faith in the Lord and lived every day of her life to the fullest. She had many things that she loved and did, but family was always in the forefront. She not only spoke of how blessed she was to have her family but she also embraced every loving moment she spent with them.
Vera was co-owner with her husband of Bunkoff General Contractors which was started by her father in law in 1920. Vera and Chris worked side by side for 40 years until their retirement in 1987. The fourth generation currently manages the company.
She was President of the Women's Stamp Club and won several honors for her impressive collection. She had an unquentionable thirst for genealogy and over her lifetime shared wonderful stories and facts going back to her descendants of the Mayflower. Vera was an avid gardener, traveler and also took pleasure in golfing and bowling. Vera's love and care knew no boundaries and she always felt so blessed in all aspects of her life that she gave generously to numerous charities throughout the world until the last month of her life when she was preparing to join the Lord.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10:00 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 63 Mountain View Ave in Colonie. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 pm at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Memorys Garden.
