Victor H. Calis, 83, husband of Norma Calis, passed away peacefully at home in Schenectady, surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 19,2023 following a lengthy battle with illnesses.
Victor was born December 18, 1939 in Jerusalem, he was the son of the late Hanna Calis and Hana Baradee.
Victor Calis moved to this country in 1968, and against all odds, made a home for his beloved wife and their 2 children. From 1969 until 2000 he was Senior Designer for General Electric in Schenectady NY. He also worked for the Time Union in Colonie NY on the weekends. Victor was a hard-working man who believed in providing for his family, and being married to the right woman; with her never-ending love and support, he was able to do just that. He volunteered as an usher for the Charismatic Mass at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady, NY. During retirement years, Victor and Norma became snowbirds, and enjoyed spending their winter months in Indian Shores, Florida
In addition to his wife, Norma, he is survived by his son, Maurice Calis; daughter, Christine Dottin and her husband Pastor Danny Dottin; and his 2 grandchildren Josiah Dottin and Sophia Dottin. He is also survived by his brothers: George Calis, Habib Calis, Pascal Calis and his wife Ann Calis and their 2 children John Calis and Simon Calis; as well as his sister, Janet; and his sister-in-law Hanneh, the wife of his late brother Musa Calis.
A service will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady on March 31, 2023 at 10AM. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
