Victor “Vic” S. Cochetti, 77, of Schenectady, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 21, at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Albany on April 12, 1947, he was the son of the late Victor Cochetti and Stella C. (Turcotte) Cochetti.
Vic was raised in Albany, before moving to Loudonville as a teenager with his parents. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Albany. He furthered his studies at Hudson Valley Community College and at the University at Albany, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Vic worked as an accountant at the New York State Department of Social Services for approximately 15 years. In 1985, he established TESCO Management, and subsequently TESCO LLC, providing management information systems and financial services for notable human service organizations in New York City. Vic continued to operate TESCO LLC up until the time of his passing with the support of his longtime business associate and loyal friend, Christopher Casion.
Vic was a devoted family man with a heart of gold, a generous spirit, a zest for life and a gentle smile that warmed the hearts of many. He took great pleasure in cooking Italian cuisine for his family and friends on countless occasions. Christmas Eve at the Cochetti home was one of his most cherished annual gatherings, and those who had the pleasure of attending always went home with full bellies and full hearts. Vic always kept the door open for those who wished to visit. Whether it was to share a glass of wine from the well-appointed Cochetti wine cellar, to sit for a bite to eat, or simply kick back for a friendly chat… all were welcome. He enjoyed playing racquetball for many years, and later in life discovered a passion for squash and pickleball. He was a fan of all sports, particularly soccer, lacrosse and baseball. He had a love for music and an extensive album collection. He was a member of the New York Racing Association for several years, and spent many summer days at the Saratoga Race Track, often sharing his season tickets with friends and business associates. He also enjoyed gardening and was known to grow an abundance of tomatoes and basil every summer. Vic enjoyed a simple life; relaxing and cooking at home with Stephanie, his devoted wife of 55 years, and their five shiz tzu, Greppi, Gino, Gemma, Cookie and Aiya. He cherished the time spent with his pride and joy, and chip off the old block, his daughter Tessa, his caring son-in-law, DJ, his “grand-pups” Jax and Luna, and above all, the apple of his eye… his grandson, Nico, who lovingly called him “Papa”.
Survivors include Vic’s loving wife Stephanie A. (Datri) Cochetti; daughter Tessa C. (Darrell) Cochetti-Ennis; grandson Nicolo S. Cochetti; step-granddaughter Jacklyn M. (Paul) Lawrence; goddaughter Nicole M. (Jesse) Hoffay; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and devoted friends. In addition to his parents, Vic was predeceased by his dear companion and cousin, Anthony J. Cochetti.
