Victor John Markiewicz Sr., 85, of Loudonville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 as Johnny Cash's "Walk the Line" played in the background.
Born on December 23, 1932 in Albany, Victor was the son of the late Clemens and Emily (Mroz) Markiewicz.
A lifelong area resident, Victor received his education from St. Casimir School and graduated from Vincentian Institute class of 1950.
Victor enlisted in the US Navy on October 22, 1952 and received an honorable discharge for his faithful service on August 20, 1954.
Upon completing his service with the Navy, Victor was employed by the New York State Police until transitioning to his career at Niagara Mohawk Utility Co. in Troy, where he retired from.
He married the former Mary Ellen Steinbach in 1955 and raised two sons, Victor, Jr. and Craig. A resident of Albany his whole life, Vic enjoyed golf, the NY Giants, catching up with his friends at the local diner and was an animal lover. Victor was an avid fitness enthusiast, determined to outlive his age. He was loved dearly by many and will be missed by many more.
Victor is survived by his sons Victor J. (Penny) Markiewicz, Jr. and Craig Markiewicz, his grandsons; Zachary and Benjamin. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by his brothers Richard and Donald, and his former wife Mary Ellen Markiewicz.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, September 24th from the funeral home, thence to Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie, where Vic will be laid to rest and reunited with his Mom, Dad and Brother for eternity.
A lover of animals, Vic Sr. requested that donations be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204, in lieu of flowers.
