SCHENECTADY, NY - On June 4, 2012, Vilmos Levay unexpectedly passed into the arms of the Lord. He left us in his sleep in the comfort of his bed.
Born in Szeged, Hungary, on January 7, 1950, he traveled through Italy and Colombia before arriving in the United States. He lived in various parts of the country before settling in New York, most recently, Schenectady.
He proudly served in the US Army from 1969-1971 during Vietnam. A graduate of the Spartan School of Aeronautics and Delehante School of Drafting, his proud achievements include being a commercial pilot and engineering turbines.
He is survived by his loving children Derek Levay and Desiree(Marc) Monahan; his grandson, Evan Vilmos; his longtime companion Mong Yu Chiang; and the mother of his children, Valerie Levay. He was predeceased by his parents Vilmos and Izabella Levay and his brother Arpad Levay.
Vilmos will be remembered for his fiery passion for life, his youthful energy, endless determination, and his quick wit.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Veterans Hospital in Albany.
