LATHAM – Vincent James Weaver, 78, a Latham resident for 37 years, passed away on June 5, 2006 at his home surrounded by his loving wife, 4 favorite daughters and their families and friends.
Jim was born on July 7, 1927 in Albany and was the son of the late Robert C. and Lillian D. Reinick Weaver. He served in the US Navy Reserve from 1946 to 1950, attaining the rank of GMMSN. Jim graduated with honors from Siena College and remained an active alumnus.
Jim was a regional manager for A & P Tea Co. for 45 years before retiring in 1988. He then went to work for NYS Department of Tax and Finance for 10 years before retiring in 1998. Jim was a member of the American Legion Melvin Roads Post 1231 in East Greenbush and the Colonie Elks 2192 B.P.O.E. He was a philatelist and enjoyed his family and friends and was an animal lover. Jim especially enjoyed Sunday gatherings with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rose E. Miuccio Weaver of Latham; his daughters, Donna (Ed) Shappy of Rotterdam, Nancy (Steve) Muztafago of Latham, Jane (Rich) Nieckarz of Colonie and Rosemary (Kevin) McKenna of Delmar; his seven grandchildren, Lynda Muztafago Rymanowski, Stephan (Renee) Muztafago, Philip Shappy, John III, Matthew and Jayme Nieckarz and Brendan McKenna; his great granddaughter, Robyn Rymanowski; his sisters-in-law, Ethel Weaver and Nancy (Jack) Fitzsimmons and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Winifred Barrett and Jane Lanci; his brother, Robert Weaver and his grandson, Baby Roy McKenna.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 8th at 9:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, and then to Our Lady of Assumption Church in Latham where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland Center. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
