Schenectady- Vincent T. Baim, Sr. (76) of Schenectady passed away, peacefully, Tuesday, March 29th , 2022 after a short battle with lung cancer.
Born and raised in Schenectady, Vince was the son of the late John and Edna Baim. After graduating from Schalmont High School, he married the love of his life, Sandra, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage before her passing in 2014.
Vince had an eventful career throughout his life learning all he could about the steel business. He spent most of his days working as a welder and fitter with Phelps Steel, Clifton Steel and Schenectady Steel before being promoted to an estimator and board member with Schenectady Steel, finally retiring in 2008. He loved his summer BBQ's, cold beer and slot machines at the area casinos and had a great love of his trips to Las Vegas with his brother Steve.
Vince was pre-deceased by his wife Sandra Williams-Baim.
He is survived by his son Vincent (Pamelyn) Baim, Jr. of Clifton Park and his daughter April (Alan) Sheppard of Mayfield. His grandchildren Kaitlyn VanHeusen (Luke Krauss) of Schenectady and Eric VanHeusen (Melissa McMurray) of Schenectady. He is also survived by his siblings John (Donna) Baim of Schenectady, Stephen (Barbara) Baim of Indiana, Kathy (John) Simonds of Pattersonville and several nieces and nephews.
