Vincent E. Pierce Sr. passed away peacefully on November 23, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Edward and Kathleen Pierce.
"Vince" was a graduate of LaSalle Institute and Siena College. He proudly served his country in the US NAVY during WWII as a pharmacist's mate. He went on to work as an Insurance Adjuster, Real Estate Agent, and later worked as an investigator for the NYS Board of Elections until he retired in 1988.
Vince was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Colonie Elks, American Legion, Colonie German American Club, Fuller Rd. Fire House and the Germanian Hall.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret Hughes Pierce, brother John F. (Nancy) Pierce, sister-in law Mary Alice Hughes, and daughter-in law, Karen Pierce.
He is survived by his five children; Kathleen (Frank) Gillick, Ellen (Daniel) Dennis, Dr. Vincent (Rosemary EiKamp) Pierce Jr. Patricia (Robert Bush) Pierce, and Mary (Robert) Schneider, ten grandchildren; Daniel (Laurie) Dennis Jr., P.E., Dr. Kathleen (Corey) Vest, Dr. John (Samantha) Gillick, Vince Gillick, Thomas Gillick, Cassie (Brandon) Healy, Dr. Rebecca (Dr. Shaan) Kurshid, Dr. Laura Pierce, Dr. Suzanne (Matthew) Schaefer, and Dr. Amy Schneider, and five great grandchildren; Kyle, Connor, and Colton Vest, Declan Dennis, and Pierce Healy.
Vince will always be remembered for his great Irish wit despite whatever crosses life brought him. He was devoted to St. Padre Pio "Pray Hope and Don't Worry". He was a man of great faith and lived his life accordingly.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Monday, November 30, 2015 from 4:00pm- 7:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Christ our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Colonie, NY 12211, on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Vince's name to Christ our Light Church, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
