Gambacorta, Vincent L.
Lake George – Vincent "Vinnie" Gambacorta, 53, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 12, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn surrounded by loving family.
Vince was born in Albany the son of Shirley (Dennis) Gambacorta and the late Bernardino Gambacorta. He spent his formative years in Albany acting as an alter server at Blessed Sacrament Church and graduating from Christian Brothers Academy then moved to Lake George where he called home for the next twenty-five years. He was a chef by trade and cooked his way from Albany to Lake George working in numerous restaurants and making many more friends along the way. Vince was an avid skier, boater and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He was a good son, brother and friend who was always having fun, including the time he and his friends snuck into the 1980 Olympic Hockey Game, USA vs USSR.
In addition to his Mother, Shirley, he is survived by his siblings: Bonnie Aviza (Charlie Brennan), Bernie Gambacorta (Jill), Grace DiDio and Shirley Francis (Jerry), nieces and nephews: Robbie VanAlphen, Michael, Amy, Mark and Brian Gambacorta, Andrea, Lindsay and Danielle DiDio, Tammy Pelkey, Kelly Acker and Shaun Francis and a host of great friends from Albany to Lake George who were more like a big extended family.
A special thanks to Dr. Darci Gaiotti-Grubbs and Nurse Chicki of the Charles Woods Cancer Center at the Glens Falls Hospital and the St. Peter's Hospice Inn for the special care given to Vince throughout his illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, 11:00am at Sacred Heart Church, 50 Mohican St., Lake George. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
