ALBANY - Vincenzo J. Gioeni "Jimmy", 92, of Albany NY passed away Friday December 3, 2021 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family.
In 1946 at age 17, he asked His father to sign for him to join the Navy.
After the Navy, he joined the local # 6 Union for Bricklayers & Allied Craft workers and became a mason. He worked for over 50 years as a mason building many buildings and roads in Albany, NY.
He married his beautiful wife Daisy in 1954 and were together until she passed in 2019. They raised two children. He enjoyed bowling in a league, hosting dinners and parties at their home. After retiring, he had more time for his love of horseracing, trips to casinos and time with his grandkids.
Father of Lucy (James) Walsh of Saratoga Springs, NY, and James (Michelle) Gioeni of Albany NY He is also survived by six grandchildren, Marie, Steven, Joseph, Alysha, Jennifer Gioeni, and John Walsh, six great grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents, and survived by his sister Rose Vergura and Salvatore Gioeni.
Relatives and friends may call at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Sunday, December 12th from 1pm to 3 pm.
