Vinod “Viny” Nair, 41, passed away unexpectedly on November 12, 2024, in Portland, Oregon. Born on August 21, 1983, in Niskayuna, NY, Viny was the beloved son of Santhamma Nair (Kurup) and the late Krishnan Nair.
Viny’s life was marked by an impressive academic and professional journey. He graduated from Schenectady High School in 2001 and went on to earn a BS in Business and Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 2005. He later obtained an MBA in Finance from NYU Stern in 2014. His career in finance spanned several prestigious companies, including Nestlé Waters, Amazon, and his dream company Nike, where he made lasting impacts with his expertise and dedication.
While at RPI, Viny was a leader among his peers, serving as the President of the Zeta Psi Pi Chapter fraternity. Known for his adventurous spirit, he loved traveling the world, immersing himself in new cultures, and was always up for the next big adventure. A devoted fan of the New York Yankees, Viny rarely missed a game, rooting for his team with passion. He was also a jokester who brought endless laughter and joy to his friends and family.
Viny was predeceased by his father, Krishnan Nair. He leaves behind his loving mother, Santhamma Nair, of Niskayuna, NY; his sister, Leena Nair, and brother-in-law, Ken Jones, of Livermore, CA; as well as numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins both in the United States and India. Viny’s warmth, humor, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A service of remembrance will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet,NY 12189. Further details will be shared in the coming days.
