COLONIE- Viola M. Hvizdak, 96, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018.
Vi was born in Albany, NY on September 14, 1922 to the late Walter and Hazel Petrie. On June 12, 1943 Vi married the love of her life, George E. Hvizdak. They were married for 57 ½ years and together they raised four children. Vi will be remembered for her strong faith. Over her life she was a member of many different religious organizations and held many different titles. She was the treasurer for Albany Bible Institute, Christian Women's Club, and Colonie Alliance Church. Her passion in life was music. She loved to sing, and play piano and organ.
She is predeceased by her husband, George E. Hvizdak, her brothers, Ronald and Lester Petrie.
She is survived by her children, Keith (Ina) Hvizdak, Regina (Don) Kissinger, James (Daphne) Hvizdak, and Janice (Rick) Yard, her 11 grandchildren, and her 23 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189, on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 11:00am-1:00pm, with a service to immediately follow. Burial will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie, NY.
Donations may be made in Vi's memory to the Capital District Youth for Christ Organization, which Vi was involved with for over 50 years.
