Click here to view Violet's ServiceViolet Hela Tabb Holmes departed this life on Saturday May 11, 2024. She was born on July 24, 1937. A daughter of C. Alvin Tabb and Elizabeth Fields Tabb, she graduated from Albany High School, Class of 1957. Violet started her work life as a data entry clerk in the NYState Office of General Services eventually becoming the Administrative Aide to the Commissioner for a career that exceeded 30 years.
Violet was a member and secretary of the MC Lawton Civic and Cultural Club for several years and enjoyed socializing with friends who were members of Upstate social organizations, to assist with planning fundraising events. Her passion was children and the elderly. Whenever possible she was out and about on missions that her son and family lovingly termed "senior patrol," during which she constantly provided personally (curated) care packages to all whom she perceived as in need of loving attention. It was known community-wide that if anything was needed, she was the one whom you could depend on to respond immediately.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents. Left to grieve her are her son Derrick J. Holmes (Stephanie) Albany, N.Y., granddaughter Chelsea Elizabeth Holmes Paraschos (Alexi), great-grand son, Theodore Paraschos, Los Angeles, CA, sister V. Arlene Cheatham, Clemson, S.C., nephews, Mark R. Cheatham, Clemson, SC, Brian R. Cheatham, Los Angeles, CA., and maternal cousins, Barbara and Pat Fuller, Albany, NY., and a host of friends with whom she enjoyed seasonal gatherings, including summer outings at Saratoga Racetrack.
We envision the angels rejoicing at Violet's homecoming, welcoming her entry through the heavenly gates.
