HALFMOON- Virgil L. January, PhD, 72, passed away at his home on September 1, 2015 after a brave battle with cancer, with his loving wife and daughter, Kyra, by his side.
Virgil was born in East Chicago, Indiana to the late Abe and Mell January on October 22, 1942. Virgil served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam War. Following his military service he continued his education at Purdue University and Michigan State University where he earned his PhD. Virgil held an array of distinguished titles, including Forensic Consultant with the NYS Police Department, and Professor of Behavioral Science with SUNY Albany.
He is predeceased by his siblings; John, Robert, Harriet, and many beloved Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy, his children; Michelle (Ron) Willis, Bruce January, Nicole January, and Kyra (Brian) Pahler, his cherished grandchildren; Alexia, Paris, Xavier, Richelle, Eris, Janae, and Elliott, and his in-laws Richard and Vivian Renus, Tina (Robert) Blanchard, nieces Jessica, Alicia and Emily Blanchard and Thomas (Pam) Renus.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY, on Sunday, September 6, 2015 from 10:00am-12:00pm, with a funeral service to immediately follow.
