Bolen, Virginia "Ginny"
After a long battle with pancreatic cancer, Ginny Bolen, 60, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 19, 2008.
Ginny was born in Albany, eldest daughter of Chet and Joan Bolen. After graduating in 1966 from RCS, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English at Nyack College and her Masters from SUNY Albany. She went on to be a teacher at Pineview Christian Academy and a librarian at Schenectady Christian School. She also served as a foster mom to many children. Ginny loved genealogy, books and history and used those passions in her work as a Librarian and Archivist with the Clifton Park – Halfmoon Library. She was a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), the Schenectady Historical Society and she was the Bolen family Scrabble champion. Ginny is survived by her children: Heidi (Adison) Colin, Hilary (Jason) Wallace, Lisa Friedrich and Peter Friedrich, her parents Chet and Joan, 9 grandchildren, 12 siblings: Bruce Bolen, Nancy Brennan, Mary Lou Walker, Jill Gregory, Robert Bolen, James Bolen, Melissa McGrath, Wallace Bolen, Catherine Gettys,
Richard Bolen, Chester Bolen, Jr. and Jennifer Reimer and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Monday, Nov. 24, at 10:00am at Pineview Community Church, 251 Washington Ave Ext., Albany. Calling hours will be Sunday 3:00 to 6:00pm at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.). Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Glenmont.
