NISKAYUNA – Virginia C. Croyle, 84, passed away after a long illness on Friday, October 22, 2010 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Virginia was born on November 12, 1925 in Albany and was the daughter of the late Harold B. and Dorothy P. (Pond) Carroll and was a graduate of Vincentian Institute. She worked as a switchboard operator most of her life, working for NY Telephone and Liberty Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Albany. Most recently, Virginia worked with the Senior Aides and was assigned to the Social Security Administration in Schenectady. Her greatest joy and pride was her family. She looked forward to holidays, family gatherings and enjoyed reading, astrology, sewing, embroidering, gardening and music.
Virginia is survived by her devoted husband, James E. Croyle and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 17, 2010; her loving children, Diane C. Evans and Robert A. (Barbara Jean) Reagan, Sr.; her cherished grandchildren, Ronald T. (Judith Schoonbeck) Evans, Jr., Toni Lynn Turner, Robert A. (Kimberly) Reagan, Jr., and Brandie Marie (Kenneth) Trandum; her treasured great-grandchildren, Arianna Turner, Brock and Hunter Trandum, and Riley Jean Reagan; her sisters, Patricia A. Vail and Dorothy C. Carroll and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandson, Jason Allen Reagan.
Funeral services will begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, then to All Saints Catholic Church, Albany (corner of Western and Homestead Avenues - formerly St. Margaret Mary) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
