ALBANY – Virginia C. Shutter, 83, of Albany passed away at her residence on Monday December 12, 2011 after a long illness.
She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude Finkle. Virginia attended Albany High School and had worked at Simmons Tool Company. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her loving family. Virginia was a member of the Pineview Community Church, Bethlehem Seniors and Sunshine Seniors. For many years, Virginia was a carrier for the Times Union in North Bethlehem. She will be remembered as a kind and gentle woman that never would speak ill of anyone.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband Richard, her daughter Sharon and her sister Gertrude Hallock. The family extends their most sincere thanks and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and Community Hospice staff who demonstrated such compassion and kindness to their Mother.
Virginia is the beloved mother of Richard J. Shutter and Gary (Patricia) Shutter. She is the sister of Shirley M. (Earl) Wilson. Virginia is the grandmother of Joseph C. (Matt McCoy) Shutter, Gerald R. (Laura) Shutter and Richard J. (Leigh) Shutter. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 10:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
