Guilderland- Virginia L. (Pitcher) Maxwell, 92, died on Friday, April 15, 2005 at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Voorheesville she was the daughter of the late John and Hazel Smith. Virginia was a graduate of Milne High School and Russell Sage College. She went to work for General Electric during WWII. After the war Virginia owned and operated the Turnpike Restaurant in Guilderland for over 25 years with her first husband the late Harold Pitcher. In her later years she went on to work as a dietician for the Guilderland Center Nursing Home. Virginia loved reading, crafting, Gardening, and the outdoors. She is predeceased by her second husband E. Wayne Maxwell and also her brother Osmond J. Smith.
Virginia is survived by her son John Pitcher of Guilderland, her two daughters; Cheryl Vieira ( Marc) of Lake Almanor, CA., and Patricia Eberhard (Jeff) of Colonie, and her four grandchildren; Eric Emerton of Cary, NC., Kelly Millino of Concord, CA., and Matthew and Melissa Eberhard of Colonie. She is also survived by her nephew Christopher Smith of San Diego, CA., and her niece Debbie Brickey of Forest Grove, OR..
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). A Calling hour will be held on Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Voorheesville Public Library, 51 School Rd., Voorheesville, NY 12186 in memory of Virginia L. (Pitcher) Maxwell.
