Virginia Lee Russell, 89, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2012 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes, surrounded by love.
She was born in Quincy, MA to the late Lee and Angie Overman. Virginia was a life member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She worked for many years with the Town of Colonie as the Director of Civil Service and later at the Campus Ministry at Siena College. Virginia's greatest vocation in life was her family. In addition to her parents she was the widow of Thomas Kiernan and William Russell. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Donald Barde.
Virginia is survived by her beloved children, Thomas (Linda) Kiernan, Lee (Barbara) Kiernan, Donna (William) Doran, Lorraine Barde and Scott (Lynn) Russell. She is the cherished grandmother of Jill (John), Thomas, Todd (Joanne), Timothy (Toni), Jessica (William), Kimberly (Todd), Kerry, Kenny (Michele), Craig, Kwinn (Elizabeth), Jacob, Rachel (Chad), Jon, Lee and Kristi. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the entire staff at the Eddy Village Green and the Community Hospice of Albany for all of the care and compassion given to Virginia.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 1:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Inurnment will follow the service at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
