ROTTERDAM-Virginia Lee Santiago-Trunko, 52 passed away and into the hands of our Lord on May 12, 2013 following a brief illness at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Niskayuna, the daughter of the Linda Santiago and the late Raymond Santiago.
Virginia spent most of her childhood in Galway. She graduated from Scotia/Glenville High School and Schenectady County Community College. Virginia lived in Niskayuna and then moved to Rotterdam. She worked for a while as a Cosmetologist and then as Project Manager for the Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority. Virginia was devoted to her family and enjoyed her home. She was a talented decorator, who loved to cook and entertain. When her children were young, she was involved in the PTO and Girl Scouts.
Virginia is survived by her devoted husband Ken Trunko, her son Andrew Wilock of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, her daughter Ashley Wilock of Pittsfield, MA and by her step daughters Kimberly and Lauren Trunko. She also leaves behind her brother John Santiago of Saranac Lake, her sister Brenda Santiago of Alexandria, VA, nieces Sarah and Dominique and nephew Raymond. She will be missed by her many cousins, aunts and uncles. Virginia is also survived by her beloved pug, "Butters". The family wishes to thank the Schenectady County Visiting Nurses and Community Hospice of Schenectady County for their exceptional care.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd Colonie.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Schenectady County Visiting Nurses or to Community Hospice of Schenectady County in memory of Virginia.
