Schenectady – Virginia M. Dobiel, 86, passed away peacefully Friday October 1, 2010 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland.
Virginia was born in Syracuse, a daughter of the late Florence and Harry June. She graduated from Albany High School and worked for New York Telephone, Albany Sales Agency and the New York State Department of Labor. Her husband Paul Dobiel predeceased her in 1977.
Virginia is survived by her daughters Judy (Vic) Hauser and Dale McElroy, son Jim (Nancy) Dobiel, grandchildren Paul Dobiel and Shannon (Greg) Comparetta and great-grandchildren: Hailey, Andrew and Nicholas. In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia is predeceased by her step-father Guy Brittell, son-in-law Robert McElroy and siblings: Harry June, Betty Dobies, Chester June, Elaine Murray and Ronald Brittell.
The funeral service will be 10:00am Tuesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Monday 4:00 to 7:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Legal Aid Society 55 Colvin Ave., Albany, NY 12206, National Audubon Society 225 Varick St., NY NY 10014 or National Education for Assistant Dog Service in care of VFW Department of N Y 1044 Broadway, Albany, NY 12204.
