COLONIE – Virginia Scaringe, 93, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, February 2, 2012. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Rose Zanella. Virginia was a lifetime resident of Albany and Colonie. Throughout her life she put smiles on children's faces of not just her grandchildren, but also all the kids and loved ones who knew her as "Nanny." She touched many hearts and souls by praying for everyone through her devotion to the rosary. She enjoyed cooking, especially preparing Sunday dinners for her family and extended family. Virginia was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Scaringe. She is the devoted mother of Mary Ann Apple and Joseph (Chris) Scaringe; cherished grandmother of Diane (Bill) Hennings, Melissa (Jeffery) Guzman, David Scaringe, Staff Sgt. Brian Scaringe and Eric (Jenna) Scaringe; adored great-grandmother of Rachel and Bill Hennings, Haley and Alyssa Guzman, Leah and Jessica Scaringe and Adrianna, Sophia and Giada Scaringe. Also surviving are several loving nieces and nephews. Virginia was predeceased by her siblings; Dominic Zanella, Angeline Carbone, Anthony Zanella, Bertha Hazelton and Elizabeth Hague.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany. A calling hour will precede the Mass from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12206 in memory of Virginia Scaringe.
