Schenectady – Mr. Vivekanand Haribhau Joshi, "Baba", 69, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2008 at Ellis Hospital after a long fight with Kidney Cancer. Baba was born September 30, 1938 in Pune, Maharasthra, India the son of the late Haribhau and Sudha Joshi of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
Mr. Joshi was a Niskayuna resident for the last 21 years. He worked as a Computer Database Systems Analyst for Automatic Data Processing (ADP) for 7 years and Norstar Bank for 3 years. Mr. Joshi also engaged in contract work for 10 years. Baba enjoyed spending time with family and friends and liked watching Hindi films, playing cricket (at a younger age) and chess. He is the Grandson of Indian Chess Grandmaster, Naravanrao Joshi.
Baba is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dr. Rajani Joshi, son, Dr. Ravi Joshi of San Francisco, daughter, Ms. Meera Joshi of Los Angeles, and his sister, Tejaswini Adkar of Montreal. Mr. Vivekanand Joshi also has many nieces and nephews from his extended family.
He will be remembered by all his loving family and friends as a compassionate, considerate, jovial man until the time of his illness. He will be greatly missed.
Hindu funeral services will be held on February 25. 2008 at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy, at 11:00 AM.
