Vivian "Viv" Gaunay, 90, passed away Saturday June 13, 2009 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.
Vivian was born in Jersey City, N.J. the daughter of the late Clara and Stephen Kane. Having moved to the capital area as a young woman, she first worked at Montgomery Wards where she met and fell in love with her husband of 67 years, Ralph E. Gaunay, Sr. Viv and Ralph enjoyed traveling throughout North America, especially Western Canada and were fond of square dancing. She also worked at Norton Co., made many of the family's clothes for special occasions and loved her crossword puzzles.
In addition to her devoted husband, Ralph, she is survived by her loving children: Ralph E. (Judy) Gaunay, Jr. and Susan (Patrick) Murphy, cherished grandchildren: Sean A. (Angela) Murphy and Jennifer M. (Laszlo) Koller, great-grandchildren: Erin and Kathleen Murphy and Zsuzsanna Koller, sister-in-law Julia Kane and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Stephen Kane and sister Elva D. Kane.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 8:15am from New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.) then to St. Clare's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00am. Calling hours will be Wednesday 4:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
