GUILDERLAND-Vlasta Alger, 96 passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2014. She had been a resident of Daughters of Sarah Senior Community for 5 years, where she received wonderful care.
Vlasta was born in Owatonna, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Vesely, originally from Czechoslovakia. There were five children. She is survived by one brother, Al.
Vlasta was an avid bingo player, loved gardening, going to camp, lady bugs and red roses were her favorite. She also worked at all the local movie drive-ins and local motel's including the Wolf Rd. Turf Inn.
She was predeceased by her husband Randall Alger, Sr. and by her siblings Frank, Joseph, Gerald and Millie.
Vlasta is survived by her children Roberta Alger-Laverty (Robert) and by her twin sons Ronald Alger (Norma) and Randall Alger (Paula); 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, March 21, 2014 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland.
