In Loving Memory of Walter Lee Dabney
Walter Lee Dabney was born on June 13, 1936, in Albany, New York. He was educated in the Albany Public School system and spent 45 years as a foreman at the Port of Albany before retiring in 1997.
Walter was cherished for his charming and loving personality, marked by his quick wit and sense of humor that endeared him to everyone he met.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian Dabney; his children, Diane, Mark, Michael-Shabazz (Jama), John (Rashid), Nevin (Robin), and Natasha; his grandchildren, Shanice Douglas, Matressa and Rashid Welcome, Daninja Ambrose, Sha’Kyra Beverly, Jayvin Dabney, Jahmeek Beverly, and Jalaun Taylor; and his great-grandchildren, Unai Buchanon, Ke’Marah Lewis, Jusah Bouldin, Shymari Welcome, Emaije, Ka’Jameir, Majhai, and Sai’John Ambrose. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Annie Dabney; his children, Kim Moore and Mitchell Dabney; and his siblings, Roosevelt and James Pauline, Emily and Barbara Ann Dabney. Walter also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Friends are invited to attend visitation on Monday, July 22, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd, Watervliet, NY 12189.
