ALBANY - Walter Harold Baucom died peacefully on October 11, 2013 at the Teresian House in Albany. Walter was born on December 23, 1928 in Richmond, VA. He is the son of the late Ivey William Baucom and Ella Bradshaw Baucom and the husband of Janet K. Baucom of N. Greenbush.
Walter graduated from VPI with a BS in Electrical Engineering and received his MBA from Harvard in 1954. After serving in the US Army he and Janet married in 1958. Walter's career included Evans Baucom in Ohio and Sperry Rand in MA for several years before moving to Loudonville in 1970. He was employed by MTI in Latham for several years before beginning his own marketing and development business. Walter loved woodworking, making furniture and remodeling his home. His greatest love was his family and was happiest when they would all gather together.
Survivors include his wife Janet of 54 years, sons Scott of MA, Walter Jr (Celeste) of VA and Andrew of MD, daughters Amy Stoddard (John) of Latham and Jill Baucom (Robert Wason) of Loudonville. Walter also has seven grandchildren, Laura and Nicholas of Latham, Emily and Caroline of VA and Kali, Tess and Harrison of MA, as well as, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Sullivan of Florida and has one brother William Ernest (deceased).
