COLONIE – Walter J. Korzyk, 56, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at home after a long illness. Born in Albany, he was the son of Ruth M. Korzyk and the late Joseph J. Korzyk.
Walter was a resident of Colonie for 22 years. He owned and operated a TV repair shop for three years. Walter worked for the Albany City School District for four years, and the New York State Office for Technology, where he retired after 30 years of service. In his free time, he enjoyed electronics, watching movies and was a collector of guns and antique phones. Walter loved to spoil his wife, children and grandchildren and spending time with his canine companion, Scooby. Many knew him to be a real "Jack of All Trades."
Along with his father, Walter was predeceased by his son, Walter J. Korzyk, Jr., on September 20, 2012.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Deborah L. (Inman) Korzyk; daughter Felicia A. Korzyk of Colonie; daughter-in-law Andrea Newville of Colonie; siblings Theresa (Tom) Korzyk Flynn of Voorheesville, Joseph (Kathy) Korzyk and Michael Korzyk, both of Albany; brother-in-law Warren B. Inman of Moores, NY; grandchildren Alex J. and Rylee A. Korzyk of Colonie and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 6:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 or Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 in Walter's name.
