ALBANY – Walter Konczewski, 84, of New London, CT and formerly a longtime Albany resident, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London, CT, after a long illness.
Walter was born on January 13, 1922 in Poland and was the son of the late Joseph and Julia Konczewski. He was a baker for Interstate Brands in Albany for 35 years before their closing in 1985. He was a lifetime member of the Polish Community Center and a communicant of Holy Cross Church. He enjoyed baking polish bread.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Molly (Domino) Konczewski; his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Thomas Rapp and granddaughter, Kathleen Rapp, all of New London, CT; his sister-in-law, Genevieve Konczewski and his niece, Mary-Ann Schmidt, both of Bedford, NH. He was predeceased by his five brothers and one sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
