LATHAM – Walter L. Jones, 71, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at home. Raised in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Walter L. Jones and Lola Bishop.
Walter was a resident of Latham for 10 years. He worked part-time for Hannaford for 10 years, and Key Bank for 30 years.
Walter will be missed by his wife of 19 years, Shirley Jones; son Marcellus Jones of Buffalo; step-children Antyne James, LaShawn James and Tineka Plantt; siblings Lois (Charles) Cabell and George Bishop; grandchildren DeJal, Da-Mari, Ashley, Malik, Jerome, Norianna and Xavier, and great-grandchild Mariah.
A Memorial service will be held on Thursday at 12:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 in Walter's name.
