EAST GREENBUSH-Walter N. Robbins, Jr., 73, entered into eternal life on January 18, 2015 with his loving family by his side. Walter was born on July 27, 1941 in Greensburg, Indiana to the late Walter, Sr. and Myra Robbins. Walter lived in the Capital District most of his life, he graduated from Watervliet High School Class of 1959. He had most recently worked for Capital Land Taxi in Albany. Walter was a long time member of the Canajoharie Moose Lodge #353 and the East Greenbush Elks Lodge #2073. Walter enjoyed horse racing and traveling, especially to Atlantic City. He also loved spending time with his family and really enjoyed the family get togethers. Walter was a people person, he had a smile and a good word for everyone.
Walter was the devoted and loving husband of Arlene M. (Ciprioni) Robbins. He was the loving father of Karen (Wayne) Glass of Scotia, Diane (the late Terry) Brynes of Greenville, Walter N. Robbins, III of Saudi Arabia, Norman Robbins of Canajoharie, Tracy Robbins of Palatine Bridge and Donald Meek (Sonya) of Rensselaer. Walter is the loving grandfather of Jason, Danny, Matthew, Zachary, Cole, Milo, Ralph, Paige and great grandfather of Devin, Jaden, Alyssa and Avery. He is also survived by his sister Nancy (John) Cossack of Troy, brother Timothy Robbins of Tamarac, FL; brother in law Richard Ciprioni of Owego; uncle of Jackie Campbell, Rebecca Cossack, Johnny Cossack of Troy, Timothy Robbins, Jr. of Bakersville, FL; cousin of Michael and Mary Lou Townsend of Albany.
Walter was predeceased by his siblings MaryJo Schilmayer, Ellen Robbins and Bernard Robbins, Sr.
Memorial calling hours will be held from 11 to 12 PM on Friday, January 23, 2015 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie with a memorial service to follow at 12 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice in memory of Walter.
