Walter Passineau Jr, 70 of Little River, SC, formally of Lansingburgh, NY passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at home with his wife of 50 years, Christina (Davendonis) Passineau, by his side after a brave battle with Glioblastoma.
Born on October 25, 1952 in Troy, NY, Walter was the son of the late Theresa and Walter Passineau Sr.
Walter was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School and earned his Bachelor Degree from Trinity Southern University. After 27 years of service with the New York Army National Guard, he proudly retired earning the rank of Major. Throughout those years, he was also employed and retired from the New York State Teachers Retirement System.
As his daughters would say, Walter was known as the funniest man in the room. He was always willing to help any friend, family or neighbor in need. He enjoyed being around his family, especially his girls, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Walter enjoyed golfing, looking forward to his annual golf trips with his brothers. He also enjoyed traveling, volunteering for Lansingburgh Miss Softball, and lively games around the table. His company was enjoyed by all.
In addition to his parents Walter was predeceased by his sisters, Patricia Passineau, Nancy Gresham, Shirley Pinho (the late Dominick); brother, Anthony Patalino; sister in laws, Louise Patalino and Barbara Passineau; father and mother in law, Walter and Margaret Davendonis, and brother in law, Walter Scott Davendonis.
In addition to his wife, Christina, Walter was survived by his three daughters, Melissa Passineau (Stephen Barber) of Troy, NY, Cara Isabella (John Harley) of Ballston Spa, NY and Marcia (Matthew) Brooker of Anchorage, AK; grandchildren, Margaret (Alexander) Horton, Tylor, Kaitlynn, and Sarah Alexopoulos, Amelia Isabella and Hunter Brooker; 6 great grandchildren, Bentley, Declan, Genevieve, Jionni, Reid and Lucas; brothers Joseph (Sharon) Patalino, Robert (Tina) Passineau, and Edward Passineau, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, New York 12189, from 4PM-7PM with a service to immediately follow at 7PM. Interment will be held on Friday, September 15th at Gerald B.H.Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville at 10:30AM.
