Walter "Wally" R. Graham, 77, passed away after a brief illness, Thursday May 14, 2009 at Albany Memorial Hospital.
He was born and raised in the Bronx, New York but has been a resident of the Colonie/Loudonville area since 1974. Wally was a career military man starting in the US Air Force during the Korean War and then serving with the Army National Guard as an Aviation Navigation Repair Specialist retiring after 35 years of service. He liked watching NY Mets with his grandson David, fishing with Christopher, NY Jets Football, horse racing with Drew, all with ice cold beer. He also enjoyed winters in Myrtle Beach, gardening, classic movies, classical music and taking his grandsons swimming but his greatest passions were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Walter was predeceased by his devoted wife of 51 years Ann.
He is the beloved father of Richard (Debbie) Graham of Malta, Charles (Christine Abraham) of Colonie, Elizabeth (Bernard) Graham-Weis of Colonie, Robert F. Graham of Colonie and Laura Malatesta (Andriy Balobin) of Schenectady, grandfather of David and Christopher Malatesta, Richard and Marie Graham, Bernie, Joe and Andrew Weis, great-grandfather of Lucas, Devin and Katie Weis. Wally is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 am at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.) then to St. Pius X Church, Loudonville at 10:00am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Gerald B. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
