Walterine Hall

March 27, 1920 — April 12, 2021

Walterine Fraser Hall 101, passed away peacefully at home on April 12, 2021 with her loving family at her bedside. She was born in Guyana, South America on March 27, 1920 to the late Malcolm Fraser Snr. known as Pa & Princess McKenzie Fraser. In Guyana she enjoyed her position of working with the nuns at the Convent of the Good Shepherd. She migrated to the U.S.A in 1974 and worked in the field of nutrition at Eden Park Nursing Home subsequent to her retirement.

She was an active member of the Black Catholic Apostolate for the past 35 years where her special seat always awaited her presence at St. Joan of Arc. She was known for her elegant attire, beautiful hats, matching shoes & pocketbooks, and accessories including her favorite pearls. Her zeal and love for her church never faded. After her husband of 63 years died in 2004, for several years, Walterine continued being a member of the Arbor Hill Community Center on North Pearl Street, Albany, NY under the directive of Virgia Phoenix, attending ceramic classes (oh how she painted), sewing classes, flower arrangement classes, group trips to the underground railroad, flower shows at HVCC, Tai Chi and many more. She excelled and thrived in all these activities and events.

She was predeceased by her siblings Ernest, Malcolm Jnr. (Albertha), Cecily (Kelvin), Edna (Reginald), Albert, Dorothy (Samuel), Cecil (Shirley), Peter (Ivy), Cecelia (Eustace) & James (Eldeka), and loving husband (Robert Hall Snr.), grandsons Garry, Terrell, great grandchildren Andre, Teresa & Sean, sons in law Robert Ashford, Orlando Harper & Oswald Abrams, and her special friend Rena Dinzey.

Her memories will live on through: Her children Norma Hall Ashford, Lucille Harper, Robert (Amanda) Hall Jnr., Joan Abrams, Moreen (Brian) McLennan, Yvonne (Ronald Snr.) Prescott, Cheryl Hall all of USA and Sherry Moyce of London.
Her grandchildren Ronda Ashford (Ricky) Nunes, William Lutterodt - Hall, Nicky Pobee Mensah , Scott Hall, Leah (Jeffrey) Canton, Llouana (Richard) Louis, Christopher Hall, André Abrams (Katinea Miller), Alexis (Morris) Blake, Antón Abrams, Brian Jnr., Sophia, Roseanne, Sharon Prescott, Ronald (Carrie) Prescott Jnr., Monique Marshall, Douglas Watson Jnr., all of the USA, Gail Elliott, Diann Gerson, Wayne Moyce, Julie (Pete) Hester, Lydia Kate North all of London.
Her great grandchildren Nateisha, Ricky Jnr., LaQuasia, Amirah, Nicolas, Mikaylea, Xavier, Ulias, Da-Zhay, Alyssa, Xzavious, Angelina, Briana, Celina, Brian III, De'Jeir, Bekim, Kacique, Nyasia, Virnaé, Raniyah, Jeremy, Sir Ronald, Prince Jonathan, Jamarie all of USA, Martin, Sheryl, Tyrone, Pyrenee, Kerry, Brian, Pat, Leon, Theo, Jonathan, Sherry, Shanice, Emma, Sinead, Kairhys, Bailey, Kaya all of London and 21 great grandchildren.
Her nieces and nephews Jean Maloney, Celia Gaskin, Eileen Roach, Venus Carmichael, Malcom Fraser III, Meryl Castello, Patricia Fraser, Elizabeth Fraser, Florence Fraser, Sylvester Carmichael, Raleigh Waldron, Eugene Ward, Claude Ward, Veronica Fraser, Monica Fraser, Peter Fraser & others, Denise Roach, Jacqueline Mitchell, Cecily Barrington & others, Janice Williams, Dennis Carmichael, Colin Carmichael, Patricia Nelson, Yvonne Fraser-Gray and many others .

Walterine was also mother to Fr. Kofi, Br. John, Martin Amissah, Donald Hercules, Carmen Hercules, Megan Fields, Stella Reid Best, Myrtle Dazell, Olwyn Giddings, Maureen Hewitt, Patricia Allen, Randolph Giddings, Carlton Giddings, Jan Luniewski, Myrtle Marshall, Blessing Oki, Chief Edwin Kaliku, Yvonne Nelson, Jacquie King, Tejitu Molla, Lucy Anson, Marva George, Sister Elizabeth Lutterodt, Diana Holland, Sharon Klass, Br. Fraser, Loreen Burgess, Henry Pobee Mensah, the late Stella Adewunmi, and many others, grandmother to Donna Hercules, Cheryl Hercules, Karen Julianelle, Karen Bedell, Beverly Fiadjoe, Keisha King, Kameisha King, Warren Giddings, Bridgette Virgo and many others, godmother of Candida Mitchell and Pauline Permaul. Family of the Frasers, McKenzie, Sears, Thomas, Archer, Carmichael, Blair, Georges, McAlmont, Richmond, Nedds and many others.

Interment will be at #28 Village, West Coast Berbice, Guyana, South America

Gathering size within the funeral home and the church will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks and social distancing are to be observed inside and outside of the buildings.
