COLONIE – Wanda M. Small, 78, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Evergreen Commons Nursing Home in East Greenbush.

Born in Burlington, VT, she was the daughter of the late Armond and Muriel Greenia Cardinal. She was a Grafton resident for over 40 years before moving to Colonie to live with her daughter.

Wanda was a devout Christian where God, faith and family was most important to her. She devoted her life to taking care of the elderly having worked as a nurse's aide for both Leisure Arms Nursing Home and the Eddy Memorial Nursing Home. Wanda and her late husband, Richard sang together in his band, Dick Small and the Peacefull Valley Boys.

Wanda is the loving mother of David (Mary) Young, Nelson (Dinah) Young, Phyllis (Joseph) Czwakiel, Muriel (Wayne Clayton) Denue, Elaine (Paul Bulson) Young, Linnie (Scott MacCue) Trotter and Amy (Charles) Spotten and stepmother of Richard Small and Lola (Robert) Wright. She is the sister of Beverly (Francis), Audrey (Paul), Roberta (Francis) and Deborah. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, Christine Price, Michelle Gregory, Angela Tomaro, Laura Knowlton, Jessica Watts, Shawn Denue, Paige Denue, Joshua Phillips, Christopher Phillips, Ryan Phillips, Tyler Spotten, Victoria Jones, Richard O'Dell, Vanessa Small, Ethan MacCue, David Young Jr., Keith Young, Paul Young, James Young, Melissa Young, and Donna Liddle and 39 great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Alexander, Jacob, Madison, Savannah, Gabriel, Jared, Naomi, Alexis, Areona, Amarion, Gyanna, Ashlynn, Skyler, Cadyn, Armond, Ireland, Chayton, Alicia, Justin, Kaiden, Seth, Hayden, Tyler, Hunter, Adia, Wyatt, Desiree, Matthew, Xavier, Angela, Thomas, Denver, Saharro, Ethan, Alyssa, Gwennett, Biannca, and Dante. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her stepson, Roland Small and grandson, Todd Denue.

A memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27th at Community Gospel Church, 487 Third Avenue Ext., Rensselaer. Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Berlin Community Cemetery.
