Wanda Valerie Tucker

July 7, 1962 — April 10, 2020

Wanda Valerie Tucker was born to John F. Tucker and the late Rose Mae Hinton on July 7, 1962 in Albany, NY.

The granddaughter of Ambrose Gambrell, a respected WWI Veteran and Coal Miner, Wanda entered into eternal rest at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by the presence of the Lord on April 10, 2020.

Ever the comedian and protector, her fondest childhood memories lied in harassing her younger brother Leonard (El) Scott and also in eating his food so he didn't get in trouble and fighting all his childhood battles when he was involved in scuffles. El would always say, "I am going home to get my sister."

Raised in Albany, NY where she attended St. Joseph's and Albany High School, she graduated from Albany High School in 1980. At a very young age Wanda developed a great work ethic, a love of God, and a respect for people.

Wanda possessed the biggest 'Heart' in Albany. If an 'Oasis' is a pleasant or peaceful area or period in the midst of difficulty or trouble, that epitomized Wanda and her home. Her door was always open and her love was unconditional for family and friends who needed a place to stay or support.

Having worked in the banking, hospitality, and healthcare industry, Wanda always insured provisions were made for her children. Stylish, funny, and always prepared for a good party, she loved conversation, music, trips to Cape May, NJ, and her home. Whether you knew her for thirty seconds or thirty years, she created a nickname for you in an instant while following it up with her infectious laugh and big smile.
The torch of her legacy will be proudly carried on by her children – Demond L. Shepard, Rose T. Tucker-Clow, Brandon J. King, and Juandell L. Smith.

Understanding God never makes a mistake, the family humbly bows to God's will and accepts that Wanda's work here on earth is now complete as she joins her son Lexis Smith.

Left to cherish her loving memories are Wanda's siblings, Carla St. Jean, Jackie Brooks, and Leonard (EL) Scott; Father-Figure Norman Pounds, Godbrothers' Napoleon Allen and Henry Little and Godsisters' Lisa Anderson, Judy Rowlett, and Brenda Parsons, her four children, her eleven grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

A "Champion in Life" Wanda knew just as God told Joshua, "Be strong and courageous…do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." God is with her and she is with him.

Rest in peace beloved and enjoy your seat at God's Table!
